Hi! My name is Laurie Thom, and I am a Junior Graphic Designer. I prioritize consistency and visual storytelling in my work, aiming to create accessible and impactful designs that leave a lasting impression on your customers.
Film Focus is a curated zine dedicated to the timeless artistry of film photography and cinematography. This issue highlights the work of legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins, capturing his impactful storytelling across the iconic films, Fargo, Blade Runner 2049, and No Country for Old Men.
This is a Typographic Movie Poster, created for 2001: A Space Odyssey. A film about the past and future, based on a short story by renowned sci-fi author Arthur C. Clarke.
My goal was to create a design and font that had fluidity and movement, to mimic the movie’s strange, complex, yet clean essence.
For this issue of Dazed & Confused, I created a bold, visually driven narrative capturing the magazine’s signature edge. The main feature explores the haunting artistry of Phoebe Bridgers, while a profile on Amika George highlights her powerful activism with the #FreePeriods campaign.
The issue also includes a visual essay by photographer Laura Pannack, examining identity and emotion through her lens. I experimented with Dazed’s iconic bright colors, exploring diverse type layouts, placements, and text colors to reflect the mood of each story.
For Bar Brat, I developed a branding concept that captures the essence of luxury, style, and modern allure. The logo design features bold lips reminiscent of high-fashion icons, symbolizing wealth, confidence, and the allure of the nightlife scene. Placed within the lips, a martini glass subtly conveys the bar’s focus on upscale cocktails and sophisticated ambiance.
