EDITORIAL, PACKAGING DESIGN

This nine-week project began with selecting the featured subject for my zine, which helped shape the three supporting stories. I researched competitors to understand how to differentiate my zine and highlight its value to readers. Next, I created mood boards for the logo, cover design, and story layouts, which provided a clear visual direction. I discussed my topics, themes, and visual identity with my professor to ensure the project was feasible within the time frame and aligned with my creative goals.
I sketched ideas for the nameplate and cover, then created initial drafts using InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. After receiving feedback, I refined and finalized the designs. For the three supporting stories, I analyzed key movie scenes and captured screenshots when suitable images were unavailable Online. I edited these screenshots in Photoshop and organized them for layout design. I experimented with typography to ensure it complemented the imagery, aiming for a cohesive and "lived-in" aesthetic.

For the main story on Roger Deakins, I maintained consistency with the established design while emphasizing the title and integrating text with the visuals. I also designed two ads—one for Sundance Film Festival and another for Kodak—both with a retro feel to align with the zine’s theme of timeless movies shot on film.
